When a trio of male scientists won the Nobel Prize in 1962 for “discovering” the structure of DNA, they owed much of their success to a colleague named Rosalind Franklin. Trained as a chemist and X-ray crystallographer, Franklin directed part of the research team, and was especially brilliant when it came to microscopic imaging. Photo 51, an X-ray diffraction image that was taken under her supervision, is considered one of the most significant breakthroughs to understanding of the double helix structure. Tragically, Rosalind Franklin passed away at an early age and her achievements were not given the recognition they deserved. Thanks to the book Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World and authors like Rachel Ignotofsky, that has begun to change and Franklin has taken her rightful place in scientific history. Our Rosalind Franklin Crew Socks, made in collaboration with Ignotofsky, is one more way to honor this amazing woman.

Reviews
Sign in to reviewAs a loyal Sock It To Me customer, I love all of my Sock It To Me socks, so when I saw these, the Biology teacher in me HAD to have them!! Quality is great and I love the design. Typically I buy the men's crew socks, since I like them to be a little taller than the women's crew which are shorter, but Rosalind Franklin, COME ON!!
