Sock It to Me Team Book Recommendations!

Any Good Reads This Summer?

The sun is out and the heat is rising! It's the perfect time to stay cool indoors with a nice book in hand. We asked the Sock It to Me team for some of their favorite books to read and this is what they said (along with them modeling their favorite socks!):

Lou LaSala:

"The best part of reading, for me, is that there are rarely any boundaries – I don’t shy away from any genre. I hold space for reading in my life because of its versatility; I can dive into non-fiction & spend time learning – but I’ll be honest, fiction has my heart - there’s nothing like a good escape from reality!"

Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Every Word You Cannot Say by  Iain S. Thomas

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

Erin O'Brien:

"Why do I love to read? I think it’s an excellent way to dive into another world – most often I find a good mystery or thriller grabs my attention and sucks me into the pages. I’m the type that loves dedicating time to reading so I can’t just have a book on my nightstand and expect to finish in any normal duration, I have to purposefully carve time in the morning with a cup of coffee or even after work sitting in the sun with my dog. I get a lot of joy from finishing each one and love to pass along my books to others."

The Scent Keeper by Erica Bauermeister

Whisper Network by Chandler Baker

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

I Found You by Lisa Jewell

The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo

Iwa Hooe:

"Reading is like traveling for me - whether I'm being whisked away to a different place, a different era, or a different life - I love being a tourist in the world an author creates."

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Adam Wright:

"When I say I like to “read”...I typically mean I like to listen to audiobooks while I run, walk the dog, buy groceries, etc. I love existing in 2 different worlds while I do day-to-day things."

Ubik by Phillip K. Dick: I don’t really know how to explain why people should read this, but they should haha.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

Dragon Teeth by Michael Crichton

Marissa Aguayo:

"I could wax poetic about all the reasons I love books and reading. The beautifully constructed sentences, the thrill of a story unraveling, the ability to see through another’s perspective and challenge one’s own beliefs. However, I think we are hardwired to love stories. From cave paintings to epic poems, used as tales of caution or entertainment—throughout all of time people have always loved a good tale. I couldn’t phrase it better than author Jonathan Gottschall when he says, “We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.”'
